Within the scope of Horizon Europe, Widening Participation and Strengthening the European Research Area call, the project “A Greek-Turkish Solar Energy Excellence Hub to Advance European Green Deal – SolarHub” has been funded with a total budget of 4.87 million EUR. ITU participates as a partner in the project. Prof. Dr. Tuba Okutucu Ozyurt of ITU Energy Institute is the principal investigator of ITU side, while Prof. Dr. Uner Colak, Prof. Dr. Ozgur Kayalıca and Asst. Prof. Dr. Sevan Karabetoglu are project researchers.

SolarHub’s overall objective is to strengthen connections between and scale-up 5 Greek and Turkish solar energy innovation ecosystems as a single, hybrid, cross-border, and interconnected Solar Energy Excellence Hub with an emphasis on agriculture applications.  21 institutions in total take part in the project. There are 11 partner institutions from Turkey with a budget of 2.2 million EUR. ITU’s budget share is 91713 EUR.

Prof.Dr. Uner Colak and Prof. Dr. Tuba Okutucu Ozyurt visited Institute for Energy, Norway and Denmark Technical University, Denmark for investigating the potential of research collaboration in organic solar cell performance and stability enhancement, and cooling system development within the scope of Horizon Europe calls.
