ITU Energy Institute hosted "Nuclear Security Seminar" between 16 December 2020 and 12 January 2021 with the support of CRDF Global’s "Robin Copeland Memorial Fellowship 2020" scholarship program with the help of Res. Asst. Fadime Özge Özkan’s help. A total of 105 personnel from the Gendarmerie General Command, the Coast Guard Command, and the General Directorate of Security participated in this seminar, which was held online and in Turkish by Turkish experts working in different fields of nuclear energy. The seminar was organized as a webinar series covering nuclear security fundamentals, including nuclear energy, basics of radiation, classification of nuclear and radioactive materials, an introduction to nuclear security and nuclear security culture concepts, maritime transport of nuclear materials, and international nuclear security regime/structure.

The seminar series of the project titled "The Utilization of Nuclear Technology in Sustainable Development" that is supported by "CRDF Global and Global Affairs Canada" was hosted by ITU Energy Institute with the help of Prof. Dr. Nilgün BAYDOĞAN with the participation of experts and academics from various domestic universities and institutions. In the seminars that lasted for 4 days, topics such as the sustainability of energy resources and nuclear energy in Turkey, the importance of nuclear materials in nuclear technology, non-destructive testing methods, principles and usage areas, the importance of radiation safety in nanotechnological products were discussed.
